Dan Alquist is a visual artist, specializing in printmaking and abstract pastel drawings. He is a Chicago native, based in West Virginia. He received his BFA in drawing and printmaking from Northern Illinois University in 1983 and his MFA at the University of Maryland in 1986. Dan is a woodworker by trade, specializing in custom cabinetry, which allows him to exercise both his mathematical and creative talents. You're likely to find Dan at his home studio in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, where the Appalachian mountains and valleys lend inspiration to his art. He has presented his work in several group and solo exhibitions in Baltimore, where he met his wife and started his family. Most recently, he exhibited “40 Years of New Work” at a local gallery in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
